Problems we solve

Drafts, cold floors, and insulation that isn’t doing its job.

Insulation slows heat down. It doesn’t stop air. Most disappointing insulation jobs are really air leakage jobs that nobody tested.

Sound familiar?

More insulation on top of moving air doesn’t help much.

Fiberglass and cellulose work best when the air inside them stays still. Air moving through the insulation — or around it through gaps and bypasses — can cut how well the assembly performs, and none of that is visible from the attic hatch.

So a house can have the right depth of insulation on paper and still feel cold and drafty. What matters is whether there’s an air barrier, and whether the insulation is actually in contact with the surface it’s meant to protect.

What people tell us

  • Drafts near outlets, baseboards or windows
  • Cold floors over a crawlspace, basement or garage
  • A room over the garage that’s never comfortable
  • You added attic insulation and nothing changed
  • Interior walls that feel cold to the touch
  • Attic insulation that’s uneven, thin, or dark in patches

You don’t have to have all of these. One is enough to be worth testing.

What usually causes it

Why insulation underperforms

These are the causes we find most often. Our testing reveals what those causes are.

  • Insulation without an air barrier behind it

lets air move through and around it, so the insulation can perform well below the R-value printed on the bag.

  • Large hidden openings

open chases, dropped soffits, attic hatches and can lights connect the house to the attic directly.

  • Insulation not touching the surface

leaves a gap where air can circulate behind it, reducing how much of its value you actually get.

How we find it

We test the air first, then look at the insulation.

We choose the tests based on your house and what it’s doing. Not every house needs every test.

  • Blower door testing

Puts a number on the leakage, and with the house depressurized we can feel and find the openings.

  • Thermal imaging

Shows the temperature patterns that point to missing or poorly installed insulation, air leakage, and areas worth investigating for moisture.

  • Building envelope inspection

Attic, walls, crawlspace and basement: what’s installed, how, and whether it’s doing anything.

  • Pressure diagnostics

Show how the attic, the crawlspace and the living space are connected to each other.

What you get

An answer you can act on.

One to three days after the visit you get a video Home Performance Report — a walkthrough of your own house showing what we tested, what it means, and what we’d do about it, in the order we’d do it.

In your report folder

  • Video Home Performance Report
  • Every photo and video from the inspection
  • Thermal images
  • Your test results
  • Prioritized recommendations
  • Product links
  • Local contractors we trust

Then it’s your call. Do it yourself, hand the report to your own contractor, or have us manage the work. See what an inspection covers.
